Kathi Emmons
Kathi grew up in a military family. She lived in California, Florida, Texas and Kansas. Kathi would come and visit her grandparents in Geneseo on vacation and she fell in love with this area of the country.
Kathi received her EMT training through Hutchinson Community College at a satellite classroom in Sterling. She obtained her training as an EMT-I from Barton County Community College.
Kathi has been an EMT since 1989.
Kathi lives in Lyons.
Kathi has 4 children - Kim, Ami, Jamie and Jeremy. She is also "Grandma" to 10 grandchildren - Makele, Arty, Dalton, Tanner, Tori, Larissa, Wyatt, Landon, Emily, and Tessa.
Kathi's passion for EMS began while she was operating a daycare in her home. She wanted to make sure she would be able to take care of any accidents that might occur while the children were in her care. Rice County offered to pay for her EMT classes if she would just volunteer 100 hours on the ambulance. (At the time, Rice County EMS was all volunteer.) Kathi became a full time employee in October of 1994. She truly believes EMS to be a "Passion of the Heart Job".
